Coaching Division News
As we develop as a Division we want to share as much with you as we possibly can and to make that timely.

The focus for news updates will always be on the website as not all Division Members belong to the Linked In group - although we will post there too.

Please come back often!

Division Executive Meeting & Joint Meeting with local Network Group Organisers 11/12 Dec 2012 at Lutterworth

These two groups met both together and singly during our day and a half looking at the growth of the Division and what next steps. We list below some of the things that came out of that time together.

Newsletter

Our newsletter has been sporadic with changes in the people here who were leading on it, and also changes in the production system within BACP. We now have two people who will be working on the newsletter which will be sent to all members in between journal publications. This will be sent by email and hope to have the next edition to you early in the New Year.

Exec Activity

We will also be producing items both here and in the newsletter to keep you up to date with what has been going on and what the executive group are doing to fulfil their roles

Coaching Bodies Round Table

We have had a regular input to the development of National Occupational Standards for Coaching and Mentoring, and to the Coaching Bodies Round Table currently focussing on a unified way forward. Barry White, Executive Specialist for Professional Standards leads on these aspects and we are working closely with experienced staff within BACP.

There are developments in at least three of the bigger organisations both on a global and UK level and it has been good for us to be able to attend as part of the Coaching Bodies Round Table and contribute to the outcomes.

Discussions

Lots of discussions took place about the role of coaching and also its place within BACP. This itself is a work in progress and we recognise there is a lot going on within BACP, meaning that the Coaching Division may not always get attention first - but it is certainly getting attention - for example for those who were not aware we now have a Coaching Division Lead Advisor, Laura Bennett.Laura will work between the volunteer Executive and the staff in BACP, she will take in the wider perspective of the growth and development of the coaching profession.

The discussions also led us to produce DRAFT statementsfor the Division which we put here for your comments and feedback. Please note this is a DRAFT( first workings) and a starting point not the end result.

DRAFT STATEMENTS

"The aim of the Division is to lead the way in exploring what it means to offer both coaching and counselling."

"BACPC Coaching exists to support BACP members who have an interest in coaching as it relates to counselling and psychotherapy "

"New and existing members are positively encouraged to share insights and contributions and to help shape the profession. We respect a diversity of approaches which embrace and are underpinned by, the BACP Ethical Framework"

We look forward to your comments!

Events

The Executive endeavour to have representatives at each BACP event and also some external events. This gives us the chance to speak with members, and prospective members, about current issues in coaching.
